3-year Postdoctoral Scholar position at the University of Düsseldorf/ PlaCeBioTec/ CEPLAS : Synthetic Biology of Plant Cell Wall Polysaccharides.

PlaceBioTec and the renewed Cluster of Excellence on Plant Science at the
University of Düsseldorf invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar available at the beginning of 2019. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in plant biochemistry and/or molecular biology. The position is funded for up to three years.

The position entails the utilization of yeast to uncover mechanistic insights into plant cell wall hemicellulose biosynthesis (synthetic biology). Of particular interest is influencing carbon distribution, when multiple plant wall polymers are produced. Another emphasis will be on producing tailor made polymers with functionalities not made in plants. Experience in molecular biology (cloning, transformation, protein expression etc. are required). Previous experience in the analytical chemistry of carbohydrates is of advantage.

Applicants should submit a single pdf-file containing a letter of motivation, a resume with a publication list, a summary of research experience, and names and phone numbers of three references. The application should be sent via e-mail to Prof. Dr. Markus Pauly ( )
